LOM architecture and design transformed the 11 story landmark building at 250 Bishopsgate in London (formerly EPR design, completed in 1998) from a traditional office space to a flexible workplace centered on collaboration and socialization, redefining the office experience for financial institutions.


















The core of the renovation lies in breaking down spatial barriers through furniture customization. The design team abandoned the fixed workstation model and adopted a "reuse" strategy to upgrade the existing furniture system: the recycled desktop was reshaped into a modular workbench, paired with movable storage cabinets and foldable conference tables, to build "Flexi Zones" that support team collaboration, independent work, and social interaction. The intelligent workstation tracking system enables 400 physical workstations to accommodate 800 people, increasing space utilization by 100%.
Office Environment: Bio friendly Design and Dynamic Experience
The reform of office environment revolves around "people-oriented" approach. The design team divides the space into "dawn, daytime, and dusk": the southeast facing "dawn zone" uses warm colors to stimulate vitality; North facing "daytime zone" introduces natural light through french window; To create a focused atmosphere in the northwest facing 'dusk area', low saturation materials are used. The three major areas revolve around the courtyard garden and caf é, guiding staff flow through walkways. The biophilic elements run through the entire process - vertical greening on the walls, micro plants on the desktop, and natural stone flooring, integrating outdoor experiences into the interior, significantly improving employee happiness and productivity.

During the renovation, the sustainability and customization of office furniture are being promoted simultaneously. 70% of furniture materials are recycled and reused: recycled wood is used to make bars and chairs, reducing carbon emissions and preserving historical texture.
