KPMG Shanghai KAMPUS Park Office Environment Design and Customized Furniture Planning
A new office landmark with dreams as horses
Seven years ago, iDA Workplace designed and planned the Shanghai Henglong headquarters office for KPMG. Today, both parties have once again worked together to create the first office to achieve LEED Platinum and carbon neutrality certification, and named it KAMPUS (KPMG Campus). Located in the Hongqiao Business District, known as the "gateway to the world", KAMPUS is expected to become the largest office in KPMG's global network in the future, forming a "dual engine architecture" with the existing office to continuously meet customer needs, achieve better and faster development, and attract more talents to join. This 13700 square meter office park is not only an innovative work in the office environment of accounting firms, but also a model for the deep integration of office environment design, furniture customization, and decoration design planning.
Lobby: Cultural Narrative in Office Environment Design
Entering the KAMPUS lobby, the first thing that catches the eye is the eye-catching digital earth device. This core decorative design not only symbolizes KPMG's global perspective, but also conveys the company's high emphasis on digital transformation and sustainable development. The device is made of recycled acrylic material and uses solar energy to emit light autonomously. Its customized design and material selection perfectly reflect KPMG's low-carbon and energy-saving development concept, becoming the finishing touch of the combination of sustainability and technology in office environment design.
As the first stop of the KAMPUS campus, Kaf é's furniture customization and environmental design fully demonstrate a comfortable and friendly lifestyle. The chairs, dining tables, and other office furniture here are designed with modularity, allowing for flexible layout adjustments based on the flow of people at different times. By waiting for a cup of coffee, you can quickly get closer to colleagues or visitors. Kaf é is not only a bridge connecting the inside and outside, but also a vivid practice of the design concept of "informal collaboration space" in the office environment. Through the decoration planning of the historical wall in the exhibition hall, the future vision of the digital earth, and the cultural atmosphere of Kaf é, office furniture and environmental design work together to allow anyone to deeply recognize KPMG's corporate culture here.

The office environment design of the reception area in the conference center revolves around "efficient collaboration". The modern conference room reservation management system, combined with conference rooms of different specifications and design concepts, provides various conference solutions. Among them, customized conference furniture is the core highlight: from adjustable conference tables to modular soundproof partitions, every piece of office furniture has been carefully planned to meet the functional needs of conferences of different scales, and to enhance the overall sense of space through unified materials and color language. In terms of decorative design, the wall adopts a combination of sound-absorbing materials and digital display screens, which not only ensures the acoustic effect but also realizes the dynamic transmission of information, reflecting the balance between functionality and aesthetics in office environment design.
Smart Tiangong: Innovation in Office Environment Driven by Technology
The office environment design of the Smart Technology Center integrates interaction, technological imagination, and innovative concept verification, creating diverse scenarios through customized space planning and furniture design. The office furniture here mostly adopts lightweight and movable designs, combined with variable lighting and projection systems, which can quickly switch between different modes such as exhibitions, seminars, roadshows, etc. In terms of decorative design, the combination of large glass partitions and digital interactive walls not only ensures the transparency of the space, but also allows visitors to better immerse themselves in KPMG's culture and spirit. This highly flexible office environment design is the result of the deep integration of furniture customization and technological elements.
Employee Service Center: A Human Centered Decorative Design Language
KAMPUS regards serving colleagues as its core design concept, and the office environment design of the employee service center fully reflects this. The eye-catching, simple and bright wall design, combined with customized service counters and waiting seats, creates a warm and efficient service atmosphere. The selection of office furniture here focuses on ergonomics and durability, using soft neutral tones in color, complemented by local bright color accents, which not only conforms to the professional positioning of the service space, but also maintains affinity. In terms of decorative planning details, the clever combination of artistic wall paintings and green plants further enhances the comfort of the space and attracts colleagues to come.
Creative Center: A Flexible and Versatile Office Furniture System
As the national training center of KPMG, the core of the office environment design of the Creativity Center lies in "flexibility". Composed of six highly flexible spaces of varying sizes, each space can be used individually or in combination, thanks to its customized office furniture system. Foldable partition walls, adjustable training tables, and modular chairs, these furniture designs enable the space to transform from a standalone classroom to a large lecture hall in just a few minutes. In terms of decorative design, each space adopts soft furnishings and lighting with different theme colors, which not only maintains the unity of the overall style, but also endows each subspace with unique personality, perfectly interpreting the design concept of "driving spatial functional transformation through furniture customization".
Employee activity area: creating a social oriented office environment
The office environment design of the employee activity area 'THE BLUE GARDEN' is centered around promoting communication. The furniture customization here fully considers multifunctionality: the deformable dining table can meet both daily dining needs and quickly transform into a long table for seminars; The modular sofa combination provides a comfortable place for informal communication. In terms of decoration planning, large french window introduce natural light, and create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere with indoor green plant walls and blue themed soft decoration. This is not only the core social scene for work, but also suitable for hosting various activities. The flexible configuration of office furniture and the inclusive design of the environment together create a vibrant employee community.
Gym and spinning bike room: an extension of a healthy office environment
KAMPUS's gym and spinning bike room incorporate health concepts into the design of the office environment. Professional fitness equipment and customized exercise spaces complement each other, with the design of the spinning bike room being particularly eye-catching: a large screen combined with an immersive lighting system creates a dreamy sports atmosphere. The selection of office furniture (sports equipment) here not only focuses on professionalism, but also considers the user's experience. Even those who do not like sports cannot help but want to experience it. This approach of incorporating healthy spaces into the overall office environment planning reflects KPMG's comprehensive focus on employee well-being.
Standard Floor Tea Break Area: Humanistic Care in Office Environment Design
The office environment design of the standard level tea break area fully embodies the concept of "people-oriented". The tea room is cleverly located in the entrance area of each office floor. When colleagues enter the office area every day, the first thing that catches their eye is a relaxed, green, and outdoor tea room, rather than a monotonous workstation. The furniture customization here is guided by comfort and socialization: a variety of seating options such as curved bar counter, high stool, and leisure sofa meet the preferences of different colleagues. In terms of decorative design, a large number of green plants, natural materials on the walls, and simulated daylight systems on the ceiling create an outdoor feel. The semi open water intake point effectively separates the space, allowing colleagues to interact more comfortably and freely. This office environment planning that places the tea break area at the core breaks the stereotype of traditional office spaces and makes the transition between work and life more natural.
From the cultural narrative in the lobby to the humanistic care in the tea break area, KPMG Shanghai KAMPUS Park has created not only a fully functional office space, but also an "office community" that reflects corporate values, promotes employee well-being, and stimulates innovation vitality through careful office environment design, customized furniture systems, and meticulous decoration planning. This case fully demonstrates that the organic combination of office furniture, office environment design, furniture customization, and decoration design planning can create value for enterprises that far exceeds the physical space itself.
