AOK Berlin LabSpace, a creative experimental field in historical architecture: showcasing the diverse and flexible office possibilities of the insurance industry with an area of 205 square meters
At a historic street corner in the Mitte district of Berlin, Germany, AOK Federal has transformed three street side shops into a creative and multicultural office experimental space called LabSpace. This project was jointly created by KLM Architekten and designfunktion, exploring new possibilities for office environment design in the insurance industry within a 205 square meter L-shaped layout.
The space is located in a historic building that was first built in 1903 and was originally part of the Wertheim department store. It is now revitalized in a balance between preservation and reuse. The design team takes "free configuration" as the core and creates flexible office scenes that can be customized according to work behavior: from open kitchens and rest areas, to "workbench" areas that can accommodate five people, and to tiered storage and presentation spaces, each can be reorganized as needed.
The combination of soft furnishings and acoustic design is equally exquisite. Light gray high sound-absorbing curtains not only optimize the acoustic effect, but also flexibly separate spaces; Wood wool baffle and melamine foam ceiling materials jointly create a quiet and dedicated working atmosphere. The entire space retains the texture of historical architecture while injecting the agility and inclusiveness of modern office, becoming a rare creative office sample in the German insurance industry.
