Financial company IG Markets Melbourne office: The fusion design of landscape vision and open collaboration
Office design in the Financial industry: the Transition from Closed to open
IG Markets Melbourne office is located in the Queen&Collins Building, covering an area of 900 square meters. With the “social center” as the core, the design team Contour has created a financial industry office design model that takes into account customer reception and mixed office needs.
There is a large and flexible space in the center of the plane, which assumes multiple functions such as socializing, games, and gatherings of all staff. This layout breaks the impression of the traditional financial headquarters being depressed and lined with compartments, and instead emphasizes open collaboration space design-closed and semi-closed workspaces are scattered, supporting different scenarios from focused office to team co-creation.

Open collaborative space design: dynamic line optimization and tone partitioning
The design has refined the moving line process to ensure that employees move efficiently between different areas.Zoning strategies are adopted in tone: vibrant colors are used in the social area to stimulate the desire for communication, while quiet colors are used in the work area to reduce the visual burden.
Office furniture planning and design concept: people-oriented, landscape empowerment
The office furniture planning and design concept of this case emphasizes “supportive” rather than “binding”.All furniture options serve two scenarios: customer reception needs to be decent and comfortable, and mixed office needs to be flexible and adjustable.
The biggest highlight is the use of natural landscapes-floor-to-ceiling windows incorporate the Melbourne skyline into the interior, and office furniture is arranged low along the windows to ensure an unobstructed view. The design team deliberately reduced the top partition, so that the light and scenery became the “soft decoration” of the space.
