In the central area of Nanshan, Shenzhen, you can overlook the core area of the CBD in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Tobin office building. For Pajilai Consulting, an important company in the global technology creation center, it is not the superior geographical location that determines its industry status, but the indoor space carefully created by the Bikao creative agency.Facing a small headquarters of only 1,137 square meters, the design team took “humanistic design” as the starting point, integrated spatial aesthetics and social attributes, and built a focused and efficient office environment.
Paijilai Group chose this excellent office building to convey the highest standard of service concept. The design concept was entrusted to the Bikao Creative Agency, and it has won the recognition of customers for its past works. The core of design always revolves around “people”-employees, partners, and visitors. The spatial layout will be relatively independent of the conference area and the staff area, while the reception desk at the entrance and the open coffee area will become the connection hub between the two.“This kind of planning allows social attributes to be naturally integrated into daily activities,” designer Jack Huang explained. “It not only ensures the privacy of focused work, but also provides an open platform for communication.”
In a limited small-area headquarters, aesthetic design directly serves focus and efficiency. The open work area is large and the workstations are dense, and the design team ensures comfort from the acoustic and visual dimensions. The overall use of low-key cold colors, but cleverly integrate warm wood colors and vivid green plants to break the silence and create a pleasant atmosphere. The designer pointed out in particular: “We replaced the black commonly used for glass wall profiles with white, while Pajilai’s iconic blue and navy blue are repeated in a variety of elements-wall finishes, moving furniture, fixed cabinets, and even employee cabinet numbers. These all enrich the spatial level.”Linear graphics, as one of the brand themes, emphasizes the inclusiveness of the company, and it also permeates the decoration of glass and physical walls.
The entrance area focuses on the design of the reception desk and the decorative lamps hanging above, as a tonal overture to the overall space. The open ceiling and light-colored walls provide an elegant background for the visual focus. There is a small open coffee spot next to the visitor waiting area, which reflects the delicate consideration of social attributes. The small-area meeting room adopts a simple and low-key approach: white rectangular ceiling, light-colored walls, natural wood trim or dark blue embellishment to create a fast and efficient discussion atmosphere. The large conference room is slightly different, with natural decorative ceilings, warm wooden textures on the walls, and fine-tuning of the color of the conference chairs, which not only maintains the overall aesthetic unity, but also adapts to the needs of large-scale conferences.
The staff area is the core of the entire small-area headquarters, with spacious open space. In order to take into account focus and collaboration, the design adopts functional decorative partitions-asymmetric laminates and flowerpots on the steel frame, Formica island-shaped panels are installed above the workbench, and the open ceiling is retained in the communication area.Multiple phone booths are configured in an open space to meet the needs of short meetings or private calls and ensure the efficiency of the office environment. The leisure area is equipped with upholstered furniture (stools, armchairs, large sofas), using different shades of blue to continue the overall color scheme. In addition, the large social space with a small kitchen can be flexibly reorganized according to work needs: small square tables can be merged into long tables or placed independently. The soft sofa benches along the wall, the low-hanging warm halo decorative lights, the glazed tiles on the wall of the console (compared with the white countertop cabinet body shape), the warm wood-colored floor and the large-area wall decorative cabinets together create a relaxed atmosphere like a coffee shop.

“All these designs vividly demonstrate the important role of people in the brand’s mission and philosophy.”Jack Huang concluded. With humanistic design as the cornerstone, Paijilai Shenzhen headquarters has achieved a perfect balance of focus, efficiency and social attributes in a small area, and has become a model for the design of the office environment of a consulting company.
